Chamomile and Almonds for sweet dreams
Many people I know can’t even think of going to bed without their dinner, even if they want to lose weight. They claim that they can’t sleep because their stomach is empty and growling, but when they do eat, they can’t sleep either! That’s because most of them eat caloric food which isn’t easily digestive. And for those people, an early dinner is not an option. So, what’s the solution?
First, I have to say that early dinner is the best possible way to avoid extra pounds and insomnia, too. And it certainly is not easy to suddenly stop eating in the evening when you once got used to it. But, you have to weigh up what’s more important to you: to sleep tight, feel great in the morning, and to look good; or to have your abundant dinner, suffer insomnia as well as other numerous problems, but also having to fight obesity? If you are one of those who simply can’t resist eating in the evening, I will give you few advices how to eat, but avoid all the problems I mentioned above.
Eat your dinner at least 2-3 hours before your regular bed-time, and if you MUST eat minutes before you fall asleep, make sure you eat something that won’t burden your stomach. Some food incites secretion of hormone melatonin, instigates relaxation of muscles, ant causes sleepiness. Here’s the list:
- Bananas have the same effect as the sleeping pills! They instigate secretion of melatonin, and they contain mineral magnesium, which is very well known by its sedative effect.
- Chamomile tea has also sedative effect, and it is excellent natural therapy against insomnia.
- Also, milk contains one of amino acids, called tryptophan, which also has sedative effect, while calcium from milk helps digestion of that amino acid.
- Almonds also contain tryptophan, as well as magnesium, good for relaxing tired muscles.
- Flax is abundantly supplied with omega-3 fatty acids, which are known as natural soporific drugs.
