A Healthy Way to Start the Day
The worst way to start any day is to skip out on breakfast. Sure we’re all in a hurry in the morning, but we should try to eat before we rush out to office or to school. First, a lot of studies proved that students think and learn much better when fed. The same goes for those who work. Also, nutritionists have proved that skipping breakfast won’t help in losing weight.
But, the fastest and at the same time – the healthiest meal in the morning is - a portion of cereals with milk or yoghurt, depends on your taste. Some people like it with freshly made orange juice or even with tea, but it’s really on you to make your portion of cereals.
Unrefined cereals are valuable sources of proteins, vitamins, fiber, and carbohydrates. Also, they contain a little fat, iron, traces of minerals, and they are very good in diet! Some cereals contain the protein gluten, which is essential in making bread. Cereals are used for making noodles, pastas, muffins, different kinds of bread, cookies, croissants… They are easily digested, and they’ll surely help you if you have digestive problems. Warning for those who suffer from celiac disease! Avoid any cereal containing gluten, such as: rye, wheat, or barley.
You can cook them during the weekend, put them in small bowls and then in your fridge. Therefore, you’ll make your breakfast or addition for your lunch or dinner for the whole next week. You’ll save much time during the week, and you’ll always have healthy meals. Plus, cereals are very cheap, unlike most of the healthy food, so you’ll save your budget, too.
I’ll tell you my favorite recipe with cereals. Very healthy, but very caloric, actually I could really say it is calorie bomb! But, it gives strength and energy, and above all- it tastes delicious. Use all the cereals you like (I usually go for muesli), low-fat milk, any fruit you like or happen to have in the house (my experience is that bananas, apples, oranges and kiwi gives extra taste), a little brown sugar (i.e. 2-3 spoons on a liter of milk) put all the ingredients in the pan, and cook it until boiling. When it is boiled, put it away to cool off before serving. It’s much better and healthier than any snack for your child. Those on diet can eat it for their supper.
