Caffeine Gives Us Strength!

What a lovely day! I’m sitting on my terrace, drinking coffee, and writing this post. I have some great piece of news for those caffeine addicts! There’s been a lot of debate on the bad effects of caffeine. In one of my previous posts, I have also mentioned it. But listen this!

According to an article, which I found in the American magazine “Nutrition”, scientists have proved that caffeine gives us strength! No matter if you are or you are not the caffeine addict, and by this I meant to say- if you have the habit of drinking coffee; a cup of coffee before some physical effort will lessen the pains in muscles. Besides, caffeine prolongs the activity we’re engaged in and help us exercise easier.

Scientists from the Illinois University studied the effects of caffeine on two groups of male exercisers: those who usually consume more caffeine, and those who take it in less. Both groups were asked to perform half an hour workouts on an exercise bike while the scientists recorded the levels of pain they felt in their leg muscles. People who had a cup of coffee before the training claimed to fell less pain during the test, than those who didn’t. Scientists concluded that caffeine may be considered a painkiller, adding that caffeine stops the pain in brain and spinal cord nerves. (We all know that coffee is excellent when we have headache!) Also, it improves our performance during the workouts.

But, you definitely won’t be wrong if you follow the advice of doctors and nutritionists, who claim moderate consumption is about 300 mg which is equal to 3 cups of coffee a day.

Also, it is proved that it increases alertness in tired individuals, so many people drink coffee when they have to work or study. And one quick fact on caffeine- it won’t help sober up a person who has drank up too much alcohol :-)
